Alternative Blanket

What’s an easy item of clothing to knit?
…or something like a throw/blanket? Ideas please, but NOT A SCARF! I’ve done that! I’m on tour so I’m bored a lot and I’m no good at doing fancy stuff, I can’t do twirly things like hats…
I can only do the basic knitting thing, do you have any knitting alternatives that are very easy to pick up, like crochet or something?
How about decorative throw pillows? You can combine all sorts of different yarns, sew on beads or buttons, drip bleach on in a pattern, the list is endless!
