Park Heaven
I would love to become a Park Ranger at Baxter State Park in Northern Maine. How should I go about this?
I’m in my second year of college right now in the liberal arts field. I would love to work at Baxter, specifically around North/South Branch ponds. What a dream this would be! I love hiking and fishing and “roughing” it in the wild. This would be my dream job, I would put all of my effort into it! The park is like heaven to me, and I would really like to work within it.
What a wonderful job option. Does the college you’re at have a “Park Management” degree? If so, this will be a good option. Another way would be a degree in Biology, Ecology or even Business. (Or even just earn a BA in Liberal Studies) If you can get a park internship during your undergraduate studies, that will be very beneficial to you. You may have to travel for the internship though, but this is perhaps the most important part of your undergraduate education. (even more important than your major)
