Tools Blanket
Are chis the only blanket burrowers?
Are chihuahuas the only dog that burrow under blankets to keep warm? Is this a sign of tool use? If it is, could chihuahuas be considered the smartest dog breed? I have a miniature poodle who seems extremely smart, but doesnt ever burrow under blankets. But then he has much longer fur.
No, many other dogs burrow under blankets. Many smaller breed dogs were bred to hunt smaller vermin and would burrow into tunnels…so many of those breeds still dig and burrow today.
Burrowing under blankets is not really a sign of tool use, and dog ’smarts’ are based on how quickly and accurately dogs learn tasks/commands. Chis are number 67 of 79 on the list.
